Roger Abravanel
Mr. Abravanel serves as an advisor to public and private Italian institutions and is a member of the boards of directors of several leading companies, including Teva Pharmaceuticals (the global leader in generic pharmaceuticals and Israel's largest company), Luxottica Group, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (a subsidiary of BNP Paribas), and the Italian Institute of Technology. Previously, Mr. Abravanel spent 34 years as management consultant with McKinsey & Company. He joined McKinsey in 1972 and became a principal in 1979 and a Director in 1984. Mr. Abravanel held many leadership positions in industry practice groups, including the global private equity practice and the specialty chemicals/pharmaceuticals practice. In 2008, Mr. Abravanel authored "Meritocracy," which led to public sector reforms in Italy aimed at improving institutional performance, including in the areas of education and justice. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at the Politecnic University in Milan in 1968 and received an M.B.A. from INSEAD in 1972.
